This summer, a number of people will be venturing into their backyards to spend sunny weekends with friends and loved ones -- just think about all of the fun! And while we’re eager to fire up the grill and soak up the sun, we should be mindful of our waste. Recycling projects can turn an old item into something new and useful! Here are a few things you can make:
- Leftover metal bottle caps? No problem! With a ceramic pot for plants, you can turn those caps into a wind chime! Gather the caps and attach them to string -- attach the string to the top of your pot and hang wherever you’d like. Now you have a tasteful option for decoration!
- Empty bottles are great vases! With an empty glass bottle, spray an adhesive onto the whole exterior. Using string, carefully wrap the entire bottle, allowing it time to stick. With this, you have a blank canvas to show off your paint skills, and hold a pretty flower!
- What about that empty two liter bottle of soda? That makes a great bird feeder! By cutting into the side, and forming an ‘L’ shape with it, you’re able to store bird feed at the bottom, using the cap as an anchor point for hanging it. If the color isn’t up to your liking, it can easily be painted with spray paint!
