Commercial Container Applications

Owning a business or commercial building is tough work. Whether it’s your property or you have people renting out space, there will inevitably be garbage. So the question remains -- where does all of it go? If you’re not taking care of it yourself, you may need a waste company to do it for you -- not only will it save time, but it’s a seamless process that you don’t have to be present for!

Businesses

For anyone who owns a business, there are a ton of options you can select from when deciding on a waste management service. For one, there are two separate types of containers to choose from. Based on your location and disposal needs, you’ll have the chance to use either a front or rear load container. Pick-up schedules can be customized to accommodate businesses who accumulate more garbage than others, with affordable plans for both!

Construction

Just because it’s at your home, doesn’t mean it can’t be commercial. If you’re involved in a project that requires more than a few garbage pails, consider roll-off containers. These come in a variety of sizes and can be placed/picked up when it’s convenient for you. In order to best serve your needs, you can inquire about the estimated size needed to complete the job!

Summer Recycling Projects

This summer, a number of people will be venturing into their backyards to spend sunny weekends with friends and loved ones -- just think about all of the fun! And while we’re eager to fire up the grill and soak up the sun, we should be mindful of our waste. Recycling projects can turn an old item into something new and useful! Here are a few things you can make:

  • Leftover metal bottle caps? No problem! With a ceramic pot for plants, you can turn those caps into a wind chime! Gather the caps and attach them to string -- attach the string to the top of your pot and hang wherever you’d like. Now you have a tasteful option for decoration!
  • Empty bottles are great vases! With an empty glass bottle, spray an adhesive onto the whole exterior. Using string, carefully wrap the entire bottle, allowing it time to stick. With this, you have a blank canvas to show off your paint skills, and hold a pretty flower!
  • What about that empty two liter bottle of soda? That makes a great bird feeder! By cutting into the side, and forming an ‘L’ shape with it, you’re able to store bird feed at the bottom, using the cap as an anchor point for hanging it. If the color isn’t up to your liking, it can easily be painted with spray paint!

Utilizing your waste can reduce our footprint here on earth. In addition to general waste management services, City Carting provides exceptional curbside recycling, too.

Recycling Tips You Need To Know

Recycling is one of the most important things we can do to preserve our planet, yet sadly many of us do not practice these methods efficiently. While we’re not suggesting that you buy everything organic and stop throwing things out, there are a few different ways that you can alter your footprint for the better, save yourself some money, and help out the environment at the same time.

Water

Believe it or not, but the term recycling can also extend to conserving and reusing water! Try starting by placing a bucket of water inside your shower while you bathe. As it fills up, you’ll have a bucket of water for a few different things! You can use this to help water the plants, or you can turn around and give your car a wash without the need to fill up a bucket first. This also serves as water when giving the dog a bath as well.

Your Aluminum

By recycling your aluminum, you’re creating abilities to house new energy each day. One can can keep a 100-watt light bulb lit for four hours, or alternatively can keep your television on for three. It also takes 95% less energy to create a new aluminum can from a recycled can than it does to make from scratch.

Cardboard
Keep or recycle it! Cardboard can be recycled and used for new cardboard for 25% less energy than it would take otherwise. In addition, saving cardboard can help for future projects such as shipping packages, or using it when you need to lay down on the ground under the car for an oil change. One ton of cardboard saves an average of nine cubic yards of landfill space.

If you’re interested in how you can begin practicing effective recycling, give City Carting a call and we’ll be happy to provide you with more information -- after all, it’s what we do!

Residential Waste Tips

When it comes to waste at home, there’s a lot more than you might think. Each day, we’re throwing out a number of things that can either be reused, or don’t need to be bought in the first place. There’s no escaping having some kind of waste when the trucks come, but you can do your part in reducing the amount you’re bringing to the curb.

  • Think about the things you use the most. At the dinner table, try cloth napkins instead of paper. You can wash them, and not worry about throwing so many away. This includes plates, too! Reusable cutlery is a great way to reduce your plastic usage.
  • When it comes to water and beverage intake, why can’t a reusable mug work? The average person is supposed to drink 8 glasses of water per day -- that’s 4 plastic bottles. You can reduce that to 0 by investing in a tap filter and a sport bottle.
  • At the grocery store, opt for canvas bags. They’re cheaper, more durable, and better on the environment. Additionally, for smaller purchases, decline the bag the product comes in. It will likely end up in the trash.

Other types of waste sometimes cannot be repurposed, but there are a lot of ways you can reduce the amount you’re throwing out; With summer approaching, this might be something to think about before your guests arrive for that barbeque!
