Things You Shouldnt Bring to A BBQ

Summer is here, and BBQ’s are finally getting uncovered and lit for the big holidays. We’re
always up for a nice grill session, a few drinks, and great company, and it’s natural for almost
every guest to bring something for the crowd to munch on. But sometimes, there are things
that don’t belong at a BBQ -- or they’re just plain unnecessary. Below are a few of the things
we believe can be 86’ed in order to have a greener cookout and still enjoy what summer has
to offer.

Plates and Plastic

In order to stay green and truly waste-free, all disposable material should be avoided during
a bbq. We know there’s some sort of convenience factor embedded within the usage of paper
plates and plastic silverware as it’s easy to throw away, but it can add up and be very wasteful!
In order to combat this, offer to bring over some of your silverware and some of your extra plates
if you own them. This makes cleanup as easy as turning on the dishwasher!

Bags

Many people will head to the grocery store in order to make a purchase of buns, meat and
other goodies before a barbeque. However if you’re heading right to the house or going to
be cooking almost immediately, ditch the plastic bags! These short lived items will likely end
up in a pile of trash, take up space, and require more to be produced -- which is becoming
very wasteful. Reusable shopping bags are a great alternative, as are those guns attached
to your shoulders!
Too Much Food

Again, with tons of guests entering a home for a bbq, too much food can be a problem, and
also be very wasteful. Too many times, hosts are left with an abundance of leftovers that
guests don’t take home, and doesn’t get completely eaten. This leads to food being thrown
out, or left out to go bad. In order to prevent waste, consider bringing only what is asked of
you OR a smaller portion of your original plan; there will likely be too much dessert as it is!

Of course, making sure that your waste is properly taken away, stored and recycled is also a
great idea. Make sure that you’re setting up two areas for waste -- one for trash and one to
be recycled!

3 Ways To Stay Cool While Cleaning Up Your Home

When you’re at home and looking at what you might consider a mess, stress can sometimes take over. But one of the most important things to understand when it comes to being clean in your home, is that not a lot of effort goes into the process — as long as you’re keeping up with it! Instead of stressing over what you need to do to keep your home clean this season, check out some of the tips we’ve got below and incorporate them into your weekend routine!

The Garbage

One of the best ways to remain clean at home is to take care of the garbage before it becomes a problem. This means proactively getting rid of the waste and not letting anything overflow or begin to smell. For this, take out the garbage earlier than you normally do, and make sure nothing is overflowing or spilling anywhere. This prevents the attraction of bugs and other animals of the like.

Flooring & Fixtures

It’s known that a number of fixtures in your home can collect dust and other particles when they’re not being used — and that also goes for your flooring and more! Spending a half hour per week on one room in the house can greatly reduce the amount of dust and dirt that gets tracked in with everyday activities. Overall, this can help the look of your home as well as the cleanliness of the air you’re breathing!

Exterior

Of course, the exterior of your home is just as important as the interior, With hurricane season approaching, it’s important to note that the air will be cooler, rainfall can occur, which also comes with noting a small uptick in wind. Keeping your home sealed from moisture and bugs is another way to preserve the house as a whole, in addition to keeping the outside as new looking and fresh as it can be!
Of course, keeping your garbage away from your home is also a huge part of the process. If you’re wondering how you can improve your waste management, make sure to enlist the help of a company who can really bring something to the table!

Summer Cleaning Checklist for 2019

In order to effectively run your home the way you want, there are a number of things you must do while there! A home is something to be proud of, and yours should be no exception. For new and seasoned homeowners alike, it’s important to make sure that you’re managing everything effectively, from your energy and resources, all the way down to your trash. To learn more about how that can happen for you at home, take a peek below!

Waste Management

It’s important to note that you’re going to need someone who can haul away your trash on certain days of the week. Whether that’s recyclables or full-fledged bins of garbage, there’s something needed for each home. Consider your next move the inquiry to a seasoned service in your area that can help. We just might know of one for you!

Home Amenities

Being mindful doesn’t mean just cleaning up after yourself, either. This deals with everything from your energy consumption to the water used in the shower. To cut costs and turn yourself into more of a ‘green’ home, you should be focusing on reducing the usage and seeing how you can improve the efficiency. Cut down shower times, reuse water for the wash, and set your thermostat to regulated temperatures are all a few ideas that can help.

Switch To Recyclable Material

Sustainable material is much more favorable than the latter options, and this is why it works so well in today’s society. Lightbulbs, recycled paper goods and safe soaps are all just a few of the options that you can purchase to improve life at home — and on your wallet!

Improving Your Overall Trash Separation

One of the best things that homeowners can do at home is take their waste and turn it into something that has a second use, and takes up less space! This phenomenon is called consolidation and helps to reduce emissions, help live a greener life and more. So how can anyone at home get involved with the trend of doing so? It’s not as hard as you might think — here are a few ways to do so!

Recycle By Type

Instead of tossing everything into one recycling container, separate everything based on what you’ll use, and what you want your management provider to take away. This way, they have less to haul and you can use your extras for a DIY project. If you’re also considering separating the recycled goods by material, you can do so as well by using bags that can be recycled as well!

Use Composting

One way to turn that unused food into something salvageable is to compost it! The nutrients from most food can be turned into soil after it decomposes, which acts as a nutrient rich food for your plants and shrubbery. This is one of the better ways to not only consolidate, but use nothing more than your extra food to create something useful!

Hire A Company

Instead of worrying about your waste on your own, think about how a company might be able to help you consolidate it, without you needing to be there! If your garbage is hauled away by an environmentally friendly company, they’ll perform the necessary sorting and recycling needed to make sure your waste is being used properly.
