Container Options For Commercial Property

When commercial applications come into play for your waste, businesses need a place to turn -- and a reliable place at that! With larger companies and bug buildings, waste can really pile up and accumulate. This is why its important to understand that in order to remain sanitary, it has to be taken away. Below we've listed a few of the options you and your building have in terms of your waste management and how you can keep your location sanitary and not overflowing with trash.

Front/rear load

Arguably the most popular of the options is a front and rear load container. These rolling containers can be placed in a number of areas on the outside of your business building, and provide ease of transport outside when your trash can fills up. Additionally, this makes it easy for one of our many trucks to come over on the specified day, and take your garbage away. With specific schedules in place, there are a number of times we can come, and you'll barely know we were even there!

Roll off containers

For those who have a larger job or building, a roll off container is a great asset to have. We offer these pieces in a number of siEs that can fit the needs of any business or commercial property. This is particularly great because it allows you to throw away large amounts of garbage without worrying about overflow. We can come and pick these containers up and haul them away when they get full!

What Can't I Throw Out?

“Just toss it in the trash” is a term commonly used by those who aren’t quite sure where their waste goes -- and while it’s not the best thing to do, it sometimes feels like the only option. But there are a few things in your home that should under no circumstance find their way into the garbage. Because of the hazardous material found in some of these, it’s important to know exactly what you should do with them, instead of placing them in your normal trash collection.

Light bulbs

Some light bulbs are considered non-toxic, and some aren’t. For the non-toxic ones, they CAN go into the trash, but should be placed in something that can help avoid injury. When it comes to CFL and fluorescent bulbs, these should never make their way into the trash, as they’re full of dangerous chemicals. An upside to this is that some retailers offer CFL recycling, and you can bring your bulbs back and recycled free of charge. LED’s are typically recyclable, but you should check before tossing them.

E-Waste

Electronics and other types of e-waste are typically no good for the trash. Usually depending on the type of item it is, a local electronics retailer will have recycle bins for each one, and some of them offer a rebate on an item in their store if you recycle through them! This is a great way to toss something you don’t need, and upgrade to something you’ll use. Alternatively, you can also always toss the items on sites like Craigslist and eBay to see if someone might have more of a use for it than you.

Batteries

As you probably know, batteries are full of chemicals that, even when depleted, can be harmful to the environment. Instead of throwing these out, it’s important to speak with your waste management company, or check out a map to see if you have a Household Hazardous Waste facility nearby. These will help you accelerate the process and be a bit more green.

3 Ways To Use Recycled Material

Recycling is something that many of us practice, yet sometimes don’t take full advantage of. You’ve heard the term about one man’s trash, but what if we told you that you could turn your own trash into your own treasure? Seems a bit far-fetched, doesn’t it? Not so much. Think about what you can do to make your own waste work for you time and time again -- see below how we do so!

Plastic Bottles

Did you know that there are tons of uses for plastic bottles? Think about this. Cutting a plastic bottle can turn into a bird feeder if you need it to, which can be hung and filled with seed for your flying friends. Additionally, you can turn it into a sprinkler for your lawn, or a timed release plant watering apparatus for when you leave on vacation for a few days! Instead of tossing them away, these can really help!

Paper

Little did you know, paper has a ton of benefits instead of sending it off to the recycling facility. For your future packages, you can stuff boxes with crumpled paper to prevent the item from shifting around. Additionally, you can use paper in some compost piles, and as makeshift insulation in places such as the garage, or where the pets might be sleeping outdoors!

Food

While it’s not always recyclable, food can be composted and used later on, so it’s technically a form of recycling. You can do this easily by tossing it into a safe compost pile and allowing it to disintegrate. When it’s done, you can use it as soil for your home and garden!

Upcycling From A Home Remodel

With a home remodel, you’re bound to throw some things away. Whether this job consists of changing the fixtures in a bedroom or living room, or you’re knocking out walls and extending your home’s size. There are a number of things that go into these jobs, but what many people don’t realize, is what they’re throwing away. While it’s been beaten to a pulp, the expression regarding ‘one man’s trash’ is never more apparent for those who have extra supplies. Take a look below to see what some of these otherwise garbage materials can do for you in the long run.

Insulation

Sometimes, insulation gets thrown out when you’re tearing down walls to make new ones. If the insulation isn’t reused for the new application, consider using it for a few other things around your home. This can include insulation for outdoor pet houses, insulating the garage, or using as barriers for the kids! You can wrap this and include it in your outdoor playground to safeguard the children from obstacles in which they can get hurt on. A cushion, if you will

Spare Wood

Wood is another component that can provide you with a number of benefits, instead of throwing it out. You can use these wood planks in garages for makeshift shelving units for free, or piece them together and make bookshelves or wall mounted coat hangers. Also, drying them out and having them be a bit smaller can allow them to be used as firewood for the chilly nights.

Of course, you can’t keep everything, and you’ll need a place for the rest of the garbage to go. For this, make sure you’re hiring a company with a comprehensive plan to keep your waste manageable! City Carting offers a number of different sizing options for your remodel, and offers complete drop off and pick-up services, making each job as seamless and easy as possible!
